轉貼 WYKPSA News - 85th/90th School Anniversaries Programmes
13th July 2009
Dear Wahyanites,
I am very pleased to inform you the 2 Wah Yan will celebrate their 85th/90th anniversaries this year. There are 3 programmes scheduled for union and sharing of joy, namely a Walkathon on 18th October 2009 (our CE will be officiating), a Gratitude Dinner in December 2009 and a Night of Performing Arts, finale of our celebration, on in July 2010.
Over the years, our Jesuit Fathers, teachers and staff had been developing the potentiality of each and every Wahyanite, with a focus on Christian moral values and individuality. Distinctively, Jesuit education is committed to training dutiful leaders and "men for and with others" to serve and contribute to Hong Kong and beyond. You will also concur on the fact that brotherhood and selfless care is essentially the spirit of Wah Yan.
The New Senior Secondary School curriculum (NSS) being launched in September 2009 will put more weights on the provision of more subjects and other learning experiences for students. In order to help our boys and teachers stand the test of this challenge and keep up with our heritage, the 2 Schools have taken some immediate measures such as the implementation of small class teaching at S1-S3, provision of professional psychological services, hiring additional qualified English and Putonghua teachers and teacher development programmes abroad. We would not have achieved these new heights without the zealous support of dedicated alumni and friends of Wah Yan like you.
Looking ahead, we would like to sustain these measures and are planning to introduce more language education and other learning experiences, hire more expatriate teachers and provide further teacher development programme. These measures and plans are imperative for the continuous growth of our young Wahyanites in the new curriculum.
Our celebration rendezvous will enable our fellow alumni, friends, teachers, students and parents to experience again the unity and genuine love for each other. It is also the best opportunity to render support to your Alma Mater. I am therefore appealing to you for attendance, sponsorship and other forms of support. Please contact me or the Heads of the individual events if you need further information. We look forward to welcoming you at all of the 3 events.
With best wishes,
Rev. Fr. Stephen Chow, S.J.
